November 2011 Chapter Meeting
Strategic Planning for HR Professionals:
Raising the (Gold) Bar
Dorothy Stubblebine, SPHR, Managing Principal, DJS Associates, Inc.
Strategic planning is a process through which an organization's top leaders work together to craft an operating template that brings life to the organization's mission. This process looks at where the company is now, where it wants to go, and how its people will take the plan forward to success.
Using an interactive approach, we will help you learn how your firm's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats can inform and guide its readiness to compete effectively and achieve success. A realistic case study will be shared to 1) illustrate how to complete a strategic plan, and 2) highlight the circumstances in which it is most appropriate.
The program will also highlight the role of change in stragtegic planning, the importance of internal and external scanning, critical pathways to effective objective setting and action planning, and methods for evaluating progress.
You will learn why HR needs to be at the forefront of strategic planning in order to be true strategic partners to the stakeholders in the organization. By being proactive and bringing a thoughtful, strategic perspective to management's attention, HR will raise the bar on their role in the organization and transform how Human Resorces is viewed.
