Responsibilities: Overview:
Act as strategic business partner to management and employees in handling HR based issues. Provide support in various functional areas of Human Resources such as: employment, recruiting, employee relations, compensation, benefits and training. Assists in the administration, development and implementation of HR policies and procedures and their dissemination.
Special Relationships:
- Frequent contact with all levels of company management, including senior leadership, and employees.
- Develop outside resources and contacts to successfully identify potential candidates.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in internal audits of employee relations’ issues, prepare proper documentation, and make recommendation to resolve employee relation issues.
- Assist with corporate and/or departmental restructuring initiatives.
- Investigate and authorize employee terminations while maintaining legal compliance. Submit unemployment forms, monitor quarterly statements, attend hearings as required, and file for relief of charges.
- Assure adherence to and application of company compensation policy and procedures by counseling managers. Identify compression and monitor internal equity in hiring and other salary issues. Coordinate action with compensation area.
- Counsel managers and supervisors regarding the proper and consistent application of company policies in regards to employment, salary related matters, and problem resolution.
- Promote good employee relations by counseling employees on company policy, assisting them with job related problems, and attempting to reconcile differences between individual employees and their managers/supervisors.
- Participate in career development issues including discussing career paths with line managers and employees and serving as a resource for employees to express their concerns and career plans.
- Participate in recruitment and hiring process, which includes: placing internal and external ads, discussing staffing needs with line managers, screening applications and conducting interviews, recommending salary levels, and making employment offers to candidates.
- Work with benefits area in regards to employee disabilities, workers' compensation, ADA and other health related situations. Develop modification of job responsibilities as medically required and legally mandated.
- Prepare or assist in preparing disciplinary documents and counsel management regarding employee performance.
- Coordinate resolution of formal complaints/charges such as EEO, age discrimination, and sexual harassment.
- May participate in or administer one or more of the following activities: management or employee seminars, job fairs, organizations and committees inside or outside the company, and educational incentive programs.
- Administer and interpret the Activity Vector Analysis (AVA) form and give feedback to managers/supervisors and the candidates. Schedule and conduct group sessions as needed for JARS, team building, conflict resolution, and employee development.
Qualifications: - Working knowledge and understanding of various human resource policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of various employment laws (e.g. ADA, FMLA, EEOC).
- Knowledge of employment, staffing and employee relation issues.
- Knowledge of company operations and specific knowledge of the operation and staffing requirements of assigned departments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and decision making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy, and ability to deal with a wide variety of individuals from diversified backgrounds.
- Ability to be extremely flexible to respond to changing priorities.
- Excellent PC skills including working knowledge of various Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Access).
Education: - Bachelor Degree or Equiv, AIM, SPHR, Intro to Insurance, Insurance Essentials
- 5 to 8 years of progressively responsible employment and employee relations experience with other generalist HR experience.
- Compensation analyst experience a plus.
- Experience with executive compensation a plus.
