There is significant variation in the effectiveness of performance management systems, including how effective CEOs think performance management is and how engaged employees feel after receiving their reviews. This session will share examples of companies that are innovating to succeed, what they are doing differently, and which practices are most likely to have a real, positive impact on employee performance.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS: Bill Schaninger and Jolene Bressler
Bill Schaninger is a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company who designs and manages large-scale organizational transformations, strengthening business performance through enhanced culture, values, leadership, and talent systems. Since joining McKinsey in 2000, Bill has focused his work on driving large-scale organizational and cultural change for diverse clients across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. An expert on the role of culture, values, and leadership in improving business outcomes, he helps top executives enhance organization-wide management effectiveness.
In his advisory work, Bill has helped CEOs, government ministers, and other top executives assess organizational health and lead initiatives to improve it. He also brings strong experience in strategic human resources, helping organizations understand how to create world-class talent systems and winning workforce dynamics.
Bill will be speaking with his McKinsey colleague, Jolene Bressler. Jolene is an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co, based out of Philadelphia. Jolene focuses primarily on RTS, Healthcare Providers and Systems, Nursing Workforce Excellence and Workforce Optimization, Talent Development and Capability Building, and Transformational Change.
Jolene Bressler is an Engagement Manager in McKinsey’s Philadelphia office. A nurse by background, Jolene focuses on workforce excellence, organizational culture, transformations and capability building.
During her time at McKinsey she has served state governments, advanced industries, healthcare systems (both non-profit and for-profit), pharmaceutical companies, and insurance providers.

Developed productivity and staffing models for Women’s Health units, Quality departments, and Inpatient Pharmacies

Prior to joining McKinsey, Jolene worked as a staff nurse for 6 years in Emergency Medicine, transplant medicine, and vascular / plastic microsurgery
Worked as RN at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania
Jolene also holds a MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a BSN from the University of Michigan.
